The female reproductive system is nothing short of amazing. In fact, one of the rare moments where no bleeding is actually a cause for concern! Every month, a perfectly choreographed mix of hormones; estrogen, progesterone, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone work together in delicate balance, preparing the body for a potential new life.
But why roughly every 28 days? The timing isn’t random. It’s an evolutionary rhythm, finely tuned over millennia. The cycle roughly mirrors the lunar month, syncing the body with nature’s ebb and flow of fertility. Early in the cycle, fertility rises as eggs mature and the uterus prepares a welcoming environment. Mid-cycle, fertility peaks and the body is most ready for conception. If fertilization doesn’t occur, fertility ebbs, the lining gently sheds, and the body resets, ready for the next rhythm. It’s a dynamic cycle of readiness, renewal, and resilience nature’s precision at work.
Understanding this rhythm helps us see periods as more than just a monthly inconvenience they’re part of a larger story of life and natural cycles. And for many girls, having access to menstrual hygiene products turns this natural miracle into confidence rather than worry, exactly what Red Cross’ Dignity Drive helps provide.
Creating the Dignity Drive poster was a interesting challenge: we needed it to be visually striking with the bold Red Cross red, while also clearly showing donation instructions and the items required. Balancing creativity, clarity, and impact meant every element from color to layout had to earn its place, ensuring the message was both compelling and easy to act on.
